Religious Education
Why is Religious Education so Important?
Religious Education is a key foundation for children to develop their knowledge and understanding of different religious beliefs. By learning about different religions, children can start to develop their own sense of identity and start to consider what they feel is important to them. Our RE lessons help to promote respect and empathy whilst exploring a diverse range of religions.
How do we Teach Religious Education?
At Meath Green Infant School, we follow the Surrey Agreed Syllabus 2023 – 2028. Within each year group, teachers will draw upon different religions and viewpoints to recognise and celebrate the diversity of the school community, especially those religious views represented in their own classes. By celebrating different cultures and beliefs, we are helping children to see the benefits of being part of a cohesive and compassionate society.
By the Time Children Leave us . . .
Children will develop an interest in, and enthusiasm for, the study of religion and enhance their own theological, sociological, philosophical and moral development. By engaging with thematic units in Key Stage 1, children will start to draw on their knowledge so that they can develop the ability to make reasoned, informed and creative responses to religious and moral issues.
