Physical Education
Why is Physical Education so Important?
Physical Education gives children the knowledge and experience to improve their own physical health and wellbeing. Physical activity has endless benefits, including improved academic performance, muscular fitness, heart and lung health and bone strength. It promotes self-esteem through the development of physical confidence, resilience, perseverance and a positive mindset. Physical education teaches children to cope with both success and failure in competitive, individual and team-based physical activities.
How do we Teach Physical Education?
Our Physical Education is taught through a scheme called Get Set 4 PE. Get Set 4 PE gives children experience of a broad range of physical activities including core skills, such as balance, jumping, throwing and receiving, as well as athletics, yoga and much more. In addition to this scheme, we provide children with active, engaging and first-hand experiences to increase their physical activity. These include regular visits to our running track, teaching playground games, zoned activity at lunchtime as well as a combination of relaxing and energetic movement breaks.
