Art

At Meath Green Infant School, we believe that Art and Design is inclusive and encourages creativity and curiosity for all our children. We believe that Art and Design should be a stimulating and enjoyable experience for all, allowing them to express themselves through a piece of artwork which has been produced individually or collaboratively.

We want our children to have the confidence and freedom to experiment with their own ideas, through different mediums, as autonomous learners. We believe our Art and Design curriculum provides meaningful learning experiences that are rich in opportunities to explore and investigate new concepts, understand and use key vocabulary, improve skills, techniques and processes and then apply these to create masterpieces.

Through the use of sketchbooks, the children at Meath Green Infant School will have the opportunity to explore, practise, evaluate and re-visit their work; developing resilience by making and learning from mistakes.  All children should leave our school with a set of skills in drawing and painting, printing and sculpture. They should also have an appreciation of work by a diverse range of artists and an inquisitive nature, meaning that they are capable of producing creative artwork which they and others can be proud of.
