Attendance

At Meath Green Infant School, every day counts.
Children make the best progress when they attend school regularly and arrive on time. In these first few years of school, good attendance helps children to:
-
Build strong friendships and feel part of different social groups
-
Develop confidence and independence
-
Establish positive routines and habits
-
Develop life skills
-
Make good progress in reading, writing and maths
-
Feel that they belong
-
Achieve to their full potential
We ask all parents and carers to work in partnership with us to ensure every child has good attendance and feels happy coming to school.
Good attendance is a priority in our school. Our staff team works closely together to monitor attendance and punctuality across the school. We look for things that we can put into place to improve attendance and lateness and to support families who need help with getting children into school on time every day.
We celebrate when children have attendance that is equal to or above 97% as this means that they are accessing learning almost every day.
💛 Good Attendance = Happy, Confident Learners 💛
We understand that sometimes children are too unwell to come to school. If you do keep your child at home, it is important that you phone the school office by 9:00am to let us know that your child won't be in and to give us the reason. You will need to make sure that you keep in contact with the school on a daily basis with an update about your child's illness. Please take a look at our page on Absence Procedures for further advice.
