Computing
Why is Computing so Important?
At Meath Green infant school we know that computing helps children make sense of the world around them. From an early age children are surrounded by technology and learning how to use it safely and creatively is an important life skill. Computing also encourages creativity to create stories, pictures and simple programs that help the children express their ideas and build confidence.
How do we Teach Computing?
Using Purple Mash scheme of work, children develop key skills such as problem solving, logical thinking and perseverance. Lessons are practical and hands on, with all children having access to an individual iPad and their own login and password. Children also have access to programmable robots. They learn how to give simple instructions, spot patterns and think carefully about how things work. Alongside this, children also learn the importance of staying safe when using technology. They learn about asking for help and making sensible choices online.
