We teach PSHCE both across the curriculum and as distinct lessons. This enables us to develop children’s knowledge, skills and values which will enable them to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage our children to recognise their own value and that of others in order to develop a sense of self worth.
We teach our children about their rights and responsibilities – as well as those of others. The children learn to appreciate being an important part of a diverse, multicultural society and the importance of British values such as democracy and the rule of law.
By teaching PSHCE and citizenship we are meeting the objectives set out in the Children’s Act 2004 (Every Child Matters) to ensure that all children can ‘be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being.’
