Music is taught to all children as part of our curriculum. They have opportunities to explore, compose and perform to their peers using their voices and percussion instruments. Music is linked to many subjects including Dance, History and Literacy. For example, as part of the Year One Bears topic, the children work in small groups to put musical sounds to stories before performing to their class.
Over the year children sing at many school events, including our Harvest festival, the Christmas plays, class assemblies and our leavers’ assembly in July. Children in Year Two have the opportunity to learn to play the recorder during the year and participate in the annual Horley Schools Music Festival.
