The children learn about their own history and history beyond living memory, topics include Toys and Schools. During Key Stage One they learn about significant people from the past including Guy Fawkes and Florence Nightingale. The children also learn about significant events such as the Great Fire of London, WWI and inventions that have changed society. Role play and drama are key features of the History curriculum. Pupils are taught the skills to use a range of historical sources such as documents, photographs, the internet and artefacts. They identify and discuss differences and similarities between life now and in the past.
