Pupils are taught to investigate places in their local area, as well as contrasting areas in the UK and other countries. They are taught to use skills and resources such as maps, atlases and aerial photographs to answer geographical questions. Children work practically as often as possible, drawing their own maps, geographical features and carrying out surveys and suggesting improvements in the local area. Children learn the names of continents and oceans as well as the capital cities of the United Kingdom. The children participate in enrichment activities which inspire and develop a love of geography.
