Computing is an important part of the curriculum for all children and is used to support learning in many subjects. Children are taught to develop computing skills to enable them to meet the demands of an increasingly technological world. All classrooms have an interactive whiteboard so that the internet and appropriate software can be used effectively to support and enhance the children's learning across the curriculum. In Key Stage One children have access to laptops and headphones in their classrooms and we are introducing iPads to Reception this year to enhance their learning. To ensure all areas of the computing curriculum are taught and enriched we also provide opportunities for the children to use other forms of technology including programmable toys, listening stations and headphones and digital cameras.
An important part of the computing curriculum is to teach the children to be safe when using the internet and this is becoming increasingly important in our modern world. We teach online safety through regular discussions in class and through assemblies.
